Privacy talk for HackHers

On march 17th I gave an online talk titled Privacy and data and metadata protection, for HackHers community, which is an international community, based in Costa Rica, that promotes the advancement of women in technology and cybersecurity by connecting talent from different countries through hands-on learning, mentoring, and real-world experiences.

I talked about Nym mixnet, how it works, its features, I also addressed how metadata gives valuable information and the importance of protect it. I explained both NymVPN modes: fast and anonymous, and the advantages over traditional VPNs.
I showed the noise visualizer to demonstrate how data packages are seen using NymVPN and without it.
I also talked about nym-nodes, the importance of them being decentralized and nodes operators.

The community and attendees learned about Nym, the mixnet, the talk provided insights into privacy, importance of metadata protection, mixnet technology. It highlighted the advantages of NymVPN compared to other solutions and helped participants understand how its technology works.

Please remember, when teaching people about Nym, that it only protects your IP address from being revealed, but not the rest of all the meta-data, standard clients produce. In order to hide all meta-data you will have to use specially tailored Nym clients, which do not produce any meta-data, thus protecting Nym users at the highest anonymity level.

Why do I point this out, you may ask? People get killed by meta-data and not the encrypted content they send.

HTH!
