Thanks! I am really happy so far with NymShare. It is well thought out and I currently have no other suggestions.

Hi, sorry for the late reply! I will compile/test your new version
this weekend and report back.
Hi, thanks, that means a lot. Next step is tightening things up a bit more, then splitting client and server with proper CLI support so it runs clean on headless systems. Also to improve a bit more Open Source P2P Network Built on Nym Mixnet so to take the advantages of it and see it will play out. I was thinking about forming a distributed catalog that any NymShare client can query without needing specific Nym addresses.
There is a video how the explore mode works
You’re welcome! I would like to make a final proposal, which would IMHO make NymShare the world’s best file sharing application , so that we can forget the popular OnionShare and croc etc. In a future version NymShare should have two default folders, ‘inbox’ and ‘outbox’. The outbox folder hosts the files for discovery and download and the inbox folder hosts the files users have uploaded via an upload button. An additional ‘fetch’ button in the GUI would be used for remote VPS CLI NymShare servers, which allows the owner of the VPS to download all files in the inbox folder, which after the download has finished, will then be deleted. The fetch button requires that one has to provide a password. For local up/downloads the fetch button is not needed, because users can access their inbox and outbox folder as usual. I hope you like my proposal and that it makes sense.
Hi, I have compiled the latest version under Linux and Windows but no dice. The program sends the request but waits forever.
Hi, thanks. If you’re using Explore mode, did you enable the Advertise mode on the Share tab via settings ? Explore is disabled by default.
Hi, you’re welcome. Yes, I did and tried a couple of times.
Hi, Could you please add some files and send me the address? Here’s mine 3mhvctE6vBRDBABzutqe7HuTH1379RvsBHGnMtoALGgQ.2aArDbNMykjt6Myqp1QftPEGdZ2GTatVBDUotAiLCbvG@FfdYC39U4qREoUZSrdNzGLQNug6Ac1PdxkZrUifR4jBR you should be able to Advertised Files: 3 as I’m offering bitcoin.pdf, nym_litepaper.pdf, and nym-whitepaper.pdf.” Then search for one of them in search bar.. I’m working to add show/hide files for each request
I just used the explore button with your address (Windows 11) and it showed that three files are available, but it did not show the filenames. After that I used the download button with your address and added ::filename. Two files have been downloaded and the third is pending and should download later. In my next reply I will give you my address and also three ‘bin’ files, created with openssl.
Ok. the third file is downloaded.
Here is my address: 6MvmKZRUZcfS1qGKjQDW6fEiP8tnLQbatGP66onSo8MA.5wRVzNkWkd8XtKfMxAj6RQ4AyWHZNkcrcey66KHy42vt@BW1Aia6qDBL53jYQfjo97T4EDHafzECNNTLECkS9ra9q and the files are each 4096 random bytes and the file names are ‘bin’, ‘bin2’ and ‘bin’.
Filenames are currently not visible. To locate a file, type any part of its name (e.g., “bit” or “nym”) into the Explore search bar — matching results will appear. On next release I will add the option to show, hide them as per image above..
Are, ok. Great.
I didn’t receive any response to the explore request on your address, so I had to download the bin directly from the download. Did you receive any explore request on your side? I re-send it 2 times.. Also do you have the advertise mode enabled ?
Yes, it is enabled.
Service: “3mhvctE6vBRDBABzutqe7HuTH1379RvsBHGnMtoALGgQ.2aArDbNMykjt6Myqp1QftPEGdZ2GTatVBDUotAiLCbvG@FfdYC39U4qREoUZSrdNzGLQNug6Ac1PdxkZrUifR4jBR”
Status:

Sent: 25 minutes ago

Advertised Files: 3
And file bin is downloaded (Total Downloads 1) and the others will follow I guess.
But it says with all three Total Advertise: 0 …
Yes, that’s why I asked if you received any explore request. Could you check the debug.log? The binary shows 1 download because I downloaded it directly. I did send the explore request, but I didn’t get any response.

You don’t have advertise mode enabled. You can enable it in the Share tab settings. This feature prevents files from being advertised to anyone who has just your Nym address.
