With an increasing number of ports opening, is this truly useful?

“Hey guys,

Based on a discussion in the forum, I’m wondering whether it’s really useful to add more and more ports, especially for things like games that don’t need that for every case.

Maybe it would be better to improve client-side bypassing with something like process-, folder-, or similar-based detection instead.

So, What do you think?”

Yes, fully agree. For games this is not needed, as people can play without NymVPN or the Nym Mixnet!

Hey
Right now we have the option to bypass the VPN per application. At the same time it is exactly VPN users who require to have the ports open for the games. different users have different expectations from NymVPN and we would like to accommodate them.

U right, but i think many gamers dont need an nym tunnel during gaming and at least they got other advantages like better pings etc.

so yes, i agree that some would like to use it ( isp restrictions, privacy overall etc.) but the most ones i think they prefer the bypassing one.

Ultimately i think , it comes down to a trade-off: security versus needs of users
