Trying to use vpn as a proxy for donut browser

Hey everyone

I am brand new to nym. Been following on x for some time and contemplating testing out.

What I am trying to do is automatically route traffic through it only for certain profiles and donut handles this very well usually

I set up a proxy for a test profile and I am struggling I think (on mac fyi)

  1. I go to my nym app and go to wallets and proxy (I think its called) and get the info for the browser profile
  2. I go to the proxy settings in the browser and enter the info and create the proxy
  3. Assign the proxy to the profile, everything is good
  4. Toggle on proxy in the app and open the profile, the open something like mullvad to check connections and the ip address does not match the exit node and everything is leaking.
  5. If I connect the vpn system wide it works but I assumed the whole point was I shouldn’t have to do that, otherwise why set up the proxy?

Did I misunderstand it’s use or should it work as I was hoping, and there is an issue?

Advice is much appreciated thank you

Anybody any input please

Sorry to keep you waiting! App and wallet proxy is still in beta - we’ll share your feedback with the team. For now, it works reliably with crypto wallets. It lets you connect your wallet to Ethereum via a SOCKS5 proxy and RPC nodes for mixnet protection of your metadata - more information here.

Donut browser looks awesome, I’d never heard of it before. Sucks that nym doesnt seem to work well with it; you would think it would pretty easily with the specific ‘app & wallet proxy’ settings ………. hopefully that will change soon!

Who/what is your normal go-to for the proxy?

Yeah its a bit different from most. Its actually not quite the way i imagined it to be in use, the browser home page is more of a directory of all your profiles and each profile opens in its own window. So reality is its no different to having mutiple profiles in brave, but probably easier to curate. And i dont think it offers any extra privacy compared to containers other than the use of a proxy. still worh playing with!
