The update does not work under Windows 11, because the app is 1.14.1 and the demon is 1.13.1. It can’t start the demon and can’t connect and say contact support.

Thanks, our Windows Developer has identified the issue and is working on it. We might roll back to the previous version for the time being.

This happened to me too. Apparently, this happens if you update via the app pop-up. I managed to align the versions by uninstalling and downloading again from the website. This allowed the VPN to work again, but only briefly; the next day it started giving me various errors.

Indeed, a manual app re-install should do the trick. The issue lies with the auto-updater.

@an_Olek would you mind sharing the other issues you are experiencing? Thanks!

I agree with what was mentioned earlier — during the update an error occurred, but a full reinstallation resolved the issue. I’ve been using it for two days now and haven’t noticed any errors. The only thing I observed is that compared to the previous version, the speed seems slightly worse, though this may be due to my location (Russia). Overall, everything is working great.

@marc-nym a manual app re-install does not work for me under Windows 11.

I was now able to install without any errors. I had to rename the NymVPN folder, restarted my PC and deleted the folder and re-installed.

:wrench: Quick fix for NymVPN updater on Windows

Some of you on Windows, while updating the app may have encountered:

  • “Error opening file for writing”
  • or an outdated daemon error

The auto-update feature in the Windows release is causing this issue. We’ve disabled it for now, and a fix is inbound.

If you were affected by this, follow these steps:

1. Press Win + I

2. Type “Add or remove programs”

3. Find NymVPN → Uninstall

4. Make sure C:\Program Files\NymVPN is gone (delete, if not)

5. Restart your PC (important if you tried the in-app update)

6. Download: NymVPN v1.14.0 Installer

7. Run it to install
