Overview
On September 20th, we hosted a basketball tournament in Dnipro’s Globa Park, supported by Zcash.
I participated as a Nym Ambassador, presenting NymVPN and raising awareness about why digital privacy matters in everyday life.
Participants
-
The tournament brought together 15 players competing not just for victory, but also to understand the value of anonymous technologies.
-
Including the referee and photographer (who were paid directly in crypto), a total of 17 people engaged with Nym’s privacy narrative.
Format
-
1.5 hours of active games (3v3 and 5v5 formats).
-
Followed by a 1-hour lecture, where I presented what Nym is, how NymVPN works, and why privacy should be considered a fundamental right for all internet users.
Nym Integration
-
During the lecture, participants learned about metadata leaks and how Nym’s mixnet architecture solves this problem.
-
I showcased NymVPN, highlighting how it differs from traditional VPNs by protecting metadata against surveillance.
-
Several participants expressed interest in using their winnings to purchase privacy-first products such as NymVPN.
Key Benefits for Nym
-
Youth outreach: 15 players directly learned about Nym, its mission, and unique privacy technology.
-
Real-world positioning: showed that privacy is not an abstract theory but a practical tool for everyday users.
-
Potential user adoption: players expressed interest in testing and purchasing NymVPN.
-
Ecosystem synergy: the event connected Nym’s privacy values with Zcash’s financial freedom narrative.
-
Community branding: Nym was presented as a project that supports young people, sport, and privacy culture outside of strictly technical circles.
Conclusions
This tournament proved that sports can be a great medium to discuss privacy, digital freedom, and data protection.
We didn’t just play basketball — we made another step toward ensuring Nym becomes synonymous with privacy in Ukraine.
Sports, community, and privacy technology — that’s what brought us together that day.
