I created this educational post to help beginners understand the differences between traditional VPNs and Nym’s mixnet technology.
The post introduces five key concepts: traditional VPNs, centralized trust, metadata, mixnets, and threat models.
The goal is to explain how traditional VPNs and Nym Mixnet approach privacy differently, with particular attention to network metadata and traffic correlation.
This contribution aims to:
- Make privacy concepts easier for beginners to understand.
- Explain the trust assumptions associated with traditional VPN providers.
- Introduce how Nym Mixnet uses multiple mix nodes and traffic mixing to make traffic analysis more difficult.
- Encourage users to think more carefully about their online privacy and threat models.
Through educational content like this, I aim to make Nym’s privacy technology more accessible to a wider audience.
