Massive Probleme mit Android 15 und 16

Hello,

There is a big problem with NymVPN on Android 15 and 16. It’s strange that you haven’t noticed this in any way and Nym VPN is completely useless.

When working on mobile, Nym VPN works normally. But if you put your phone aside and the screen goes off, NymVPN turns off and cuts off connectivity. And when you turn the screen back on, NymVPN reconnects, and only then do all the messages, etc., come through. (Problem under Wi-Fi and 4/5G)

I have reported the problem several times in old emails, but to date the problem has not been resolved!

Finally take care of the problem, because it’s absolutely useless on my phone, so I’ll have to install Mullvad again until you finally solve the problem, if at all. I’m starting to get annoyed by your problems.

Greetings

Gerhard

Hi there,

Which ROM are you on? I’ve had witnessed the same types of behaviors on my current ROM while using the previous NymVPN build – although using the latest build, connectivity seems to hold on while the phone is locked..

Cheers,

Same sort of problem for me .

On Android, whether it’s Android 16 ROM stock or GrapheneOS, I still have the same problem and it’s getting really annoying.
Every time I update the NymVPN application, I have to uninstall and reinstall it so it works properly.
Indeed, with every update, the VPN reconnection is not done automatically as for example with MullvadVPN and moreover I do not arrive on the screen of the connection nodes by country.
I can’t stand to be forced to uninstall the app, reinstall it and re-enter the passphrase, let alone remove the old inscriptions from my devices.

Please find a solution .

Not sure if I fully understand. Which of these issues do you see?

  1. connection drops when device is locked/inactive
  2. app asking you to re-login when you reinstall/updated not working properly

I’ll try to be clearer.
After updating the application several times, no automatic reconnection of the vpn.
I try to restart the app several times but I have a black screen.
Could not access settings to disconnect from application.
Clearing the application cache does not solve the problem.
Clearing application storage solved the problem but I have to reenter my phrase (24 words) and setting up my old settings in the application and everything functions as before.

To simply, I see the issue number 2 .

i just noticed that with the Android version 2.8.0 of NymVPN, I have the same problem.
As my smartphone restarts, NymVPN never connects.
When I restart the application, I have a black screen so I can’t access settings.
Every time, I have to clear the storage space of the application.
Then I put the phrase back in order to use NymVPN again.

Penible as a solution.

Thanks for the details! Is it possible for you to share the app logs for the same? You’ll find them in Settings and can report here: https://support.nym.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

I filed a bug report the same day ( Feb 5 2026 ) .

Now with Android version 2.9.0, it looks like my problems are fixed.

Thanks Nym team

With NymVPN Android 2.9.0 and 2.9.1, I have another problem on GrapheneOS.
After a cold restart (shutdown not reboot) of the smartphone when I want to modify my VPN servers, I end up with a home screen as if I hadn’t logged in on my NymVPN app

.
Cannot change my input and output servers, disconnect from the application.

However without changes, the VPN boot with my old settings.

@Blaze, thanks for the report. This is a known issue and the developers have already pinpointed the cause. A patch will be included in the next release. We appreciate your patience in the meantime!
