when signing up for a subscription Stripe lists local VAT in EU countries, but as you do not collect VAT ID and do not provide invoices (only receipts without listing the VAT) this is not user friendly (at least not to those who could reclaim VAT) - as a Stripe admin and EU tax expert I am offering help here.
sorry to keep you waiting! right now, you can request for invoice if you want. instructions are available here: https://support.nym.com/hc/en-us/articles/33732614754961-How-can-I-request-an-invoice-for-my-NymVPN-subscription
Thanks, I am aware. And the wording is not correct as youbwont actually get a valid invoice. It is just a transaction receipt. No VAT deduction possible with that kind of doc
Thank you for the great feedback @jeoric, I forwarded it to our accounting department. We are aware of this issue and our current manual invoice production is a stopgap measure. We are working on automating invoice production and allowing our users to download their invoice from their profile.
Would you mind elaborating more on why VAT deduction is not possible with the invoices we currently produce? I double checked just now and they contain all the required details listed as mandatory in this article for example. Let me know if I’m missing something, would be highly appreciated!
after requesting an invoice via the support contact given and as mentioned in the first reply here, you will receive a standard Stripe receipt, not an invoice. the receipt does not contain EU-VAT IDs (neither NYMs nor the client’s), the net and the VAT amounts won’t show up on the document either
