hey @NhuelCryp, thanks for the proposal!

As you know, the Nigerian channel is not very active at this point. We can only provide the decentralized community management grant for channels with decent meaningful activity levels. We encourage you to build the Nigerian community to this level.

While I cannot give you the community management grant until then, you can propose a covert mission and detail your plan to get there for up to 5k NYM, paid on completion of specific milestones.

In general we are looking for the following:

  • active, high-quality NSL contributors from your region
  • channel activity, engagement, meaningful conversations and real followers
  • channel growth (number of members)
  • new node operators from your region
  • well-configured and well-managed channel: no spam, all official updates shared swiftly, high-quality, on topic conversations, well-configured bots to keep the channel safe and clean

Please propose a specific plan to grow the Nigerian community in the areas outlined above. Make sure to include a timeline and specific results (for example: by x date the Nigerian community will grow to y members, and there will be z active, high quality NSL contributors).

Please also make sure to outline in detail why Nym should have a community in your region. What does the crypto market look like? What does the VPN market look like? Which are the most successful local crypto communities and what are their main achievements? etc etc.

Looking forward to reading you proposal!

Thanks for the response @sudonym

I’ll commence building the community today, and also in response points you outlined, here are the results to be achieved with this timeline ( 30th Jan - 30th March);

  • Members growth (466 - 600+)
  • NSL Contributors (1-10)
  • Active community members engaging in discussions
  • Node operators (1-5)
  • A well managed and safe community without spams
  • Add bots to the channel to keep the community safe
  • Keep the community informed and share all updates and announcements

About 33% of Nigerians now invest in cryptocurrency, making the country the second-largest adopter globally after India, according to Chainalysis. Many in the diaspora also use crypto to bypass costly traditional remittance channels. but, this widespread adoption has frustrated Nigerian policymakers. During the 2020 protests against police brutality, cryptocurrencies became a financial lifeline after the central bank froze activists’ accounts. Protesters turned to crypto donations, a move that empowered them but further unsettled the government.

VPNs are legal in Nigeria, for Nigerians, a VPN ensures secure browsing, unrestricted content access, and protection from cyber threats. Whether for personal privacy or business data security, it provides essential digital freedom and protection.

Many Nigerians have found themselves unable to access international streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, or BBC iPlayer due to geo-restrictions and also blog sites from top crypto firms like binance, Bybit and the rest. Nigerians uses VPNs to access the mentioned those platforms and sites.

  • Web3bridge: A community exploring a cohort-based model to train Web3 developers in Africa for structured, community-driven learning and skill development. Introduced Over 3000 Newbies To Web 3.0
