Brief Summary of the Nym × Ukraine Community Call: Privacy, ZK, VPN & the Power of Community

Visit to Distributed Lab : Privacy Through Zero-Knowledge
In Kyiv, the Nym team met with Distributed Lab , one of Ukraine’s largest crypto companies (founded by Pavel Kravchenko).
The main topic was zero-knowledge proofs (ZK) — how to prove things like citizenship or age without revealing personal identity.
Example: reading data from a passport’s NFC chip and generating a ZK-proof on your phone.
One real-world use case: signing petitions anonymously in Iran and Russia, with no risk of deanonymization.
A collaboration and joint proof of concept (PoC) are in the works.
ZK-Nym: Reputation Over Identity
ZK-Nym is built around the same idea — proving facts without exposing who you are.
In the mixnet, nodes don’t have fixed identities — only reputation. This model could be a foundation for privacy-first digital interactions.
Mentorship with CZ & Binance Partnership
@harryhalpin (Nym’s founder) was selected to join EZLabs (formerly Binance Labs) alongside CZ and Vitalik Buterin.
His focus will be on privacy, AI, and ZK technologies for new Web3 projects.
Binance has supported Nym since 2018. Nym remains one of the few projects in their portfolio with a working product: a decentralized VPN.
Ukrainian Community: Events, Ambassadors, Rawbox
Tomorrow, the second Nym Community Event will take place in Kyiv, in partnership with Incrypted.
5 speakers — including Alexis, Sudo, Nym ambassadors like @Beyond , and the Rawbox team — will present technical demos and share insights on the ecosystem.
Expect merch, contests, and a lively community meetup.
Nym will also take part in the nCrypto conference, with a focus on the role of $NYM token in the ecosystem.
Updates to Nym Explorer
Dark mode added (based on community requests).
“Magic search” now supports node name lookup — no key or address required.
The interactive node map is coming back, along with better filtering (uptime, reputation, etc.).
Transaction display is in the works — pending backend readiness.
NymVPN Launch & Marketing
NymVPN is moving from beta to full release:
First target: crypto-native & Web3 users.
Affiliate and payment systems are now in place.
Focus remains on product quality, bug fixing, and seamless UX.
What’s next:
- Ad-blocking directly in VPN
- DNS protection
- Browser fingerprint reduction
Community Q&A
Merch is event-only for now — maybe in the shop later.
Browser integration is under discussion (no plans for a custom browser).
Mixnet handles 10k+ users stably, but performance tuning is ongoing.
Delegations currently favor DAOs and community squads with strong reputations.
Ethereum, Vitalik & the Privacy Shift
Vitalik Buterin recently praised Mixnets and highlighted privacy as a key need in Ethereum.
MEV (Miner Extractable Value) issues show how exposed users can be on transparent blockchains.
Nym is participating in Zwitserland, a series of events in Switzerland focused on ZK, governance, and digital rights.
Streams & Conference Plans
The Kyiv event will be streamed by Incrypted (bilingual: Ukrainian + English).
Nym is considering DevConnect in Buenos Aires — depending on VPN rollout progress.
